Porthmeor Beach is going single use plastic free and as we work hard to make sure our beach stays litter free unfortunately there is plenty of rubbish that ends up on our shores. Therefore, together with St Ives Surf School and Surfers Against Sewage we are organising a Big Spring Beach Clean! At 10:30AM on Saturday 14th April 2018 we will meet at St Ives Surf School and collect rubbish not just at Porthmeor Beach but also at Porthminster & Porthgwidden beaches and at the Harbour front to help keep St Ives' coasts clean and litter free.
The Big Spring Beach Clean is one of the biggest beach clean projects in the UK and many communities up and down the country participate in this week long nationwide campaign. Over the past 8 years more than 39,000 people took part in the project with over 1,200 beach cleans organised in the UK. Be part of this amazing project and help fight plastic pollution!
To the event please bring your own gloves and buckets to collect rubbish (why use more plastic for rubbish bags?) which we will then empty into bigger litter containers. We will start at Porthmeor Beach and work our way to the Harbour front where we will all meet at around 11:30AM. The beach clean will only take about an hour but will make a tremendous difference to our coastlines. We will make sure everybody has a great time and there will be various competitions and prizes to be won on the day!
See you on Saturday 14th April at 10:30AM!
